If you were arrested for a crime but the State Attorney's office dropped the charges or you were found not guilty at trial, then you may be entitled to an Expungement of your record. If granted, the expungement will wipe your arrest history clear.
To obtain an expungement, your attorney must work with the State Attorney's Office, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and also obtain the trial judge's approval. This is a lengthy process which requires an attorney with significant legal expertise. It usually takes about six (6) months to complete. There are some crimes which cannot be expunged. There are also certain institutions which will be able to view expunged records, such as military agencies, educational institutions, and law enforcement. Yet for many people, an expungement provides them the chance to finally put a mistake in their past behind them. If you want to know if you qualify for an expungement, please contact Attorney Marc Consalo for a consultation.
